Professional Keratin Treatments
Smoother Hair. Less Frizz. Easier Styling.
For hair that feels difficult to manage, prone to frizz or demanding to style, a professional keratin treatment can help create a smoother, more manageable finish.

At iHobbs, your treatment is carried out professionally with consideration for your hair, the result you want to achieve and the aftercare required to maintain it.
Smoother does not have to mean poker straight.
A keratin treatment is not simply about removing every trace of texture. The finished result can depend on your starting hair, the treatment and the result being created.

Understanding the Treatment
What does a keratin treatment actually do?
A professional keratin treatment is designed to make the hair easier to manage by creating a smoother, more controlled finish and reducing the appearance and behaviour of frizz.
It is not the same as simply straightening the hair with styling tools, and it should not automatically be understood as permanent chemical straightening.
- Smoother Finish
- Hair can feel smoother and more controlled, helping to reduce the frustration associated with persistent frizz.
- Greater Manageability
- For many clients, one of the most valuable benefits is simply having hair that is easier to manage as part of their normal styling routine.
- A More Polished Result
- The treatment can support a sleeker, more polished appearance, while the finished degree of straightness or retained movement will depend on the individual hair and treatment result.
Keratin treatment and permanent straightening are not the same thing.
If your objective is completely straight hair, tell us. If your objective is primarily frizz reduction and easier styling while retaining some natural movement, tell us that too. Understanding the result you want is part of providing the appropriate service.
Note: The goal is not to force every head of hair into the same finish. It is to understand what you want from the treatment and what your hair can realistically achieve.
Is It Right for Your Hair?
Keratin treatment is about manageability, not one particular hair type.
People choose keratin treatments for different reasons. For some, persistent frizz is the main concern. For others, it is the amount of time and effort required to manage and style their hair. Suitability depends on the individual hair, its condition, previous services and the result you want to achieve.
Important: The question is not simply, “Can keratin be applied to this hair?” The better question is, “Is this the appropriate service for this hair right now?”
- Frizz is difficult to manage.
- Your hair regularly becomes frizzy or difficult to control and you would like a smoother, more manageable finish.
- Styling takes considerable time.
- Washing and styling your hair feels unnecessarily demanding and you are looking for a more manageable everyday routine.
- You want smoother hair without assuming it must be completely straight.
- Your priority may be softness, control and manageability rather than eliminating every element of your natural texture.
- You want a professional smoothing service.
- You would prefer your hair and desired result to be considered professionally rather than relying solely on temporary smoothing products at home.
What about curly, wavy or textured hair?
Having texture does not automatically rule out a keratin treatment. Curly, wavy and textured hair can be beautifully managed, and many clients simply want their hair to feel easier to live with day to day.
What should not be assumed is that every starting texture will produce the same finished result. The degree of smoothing achieved, the amount of movement retained and how much natural texture remains can vary from person to person.
What if my hair is coloured?
Previous colour and chemical services are relevant and should be discussed. The condition of your hair and the timing of your services may affect how your appointment is planned.
Can I have a keratin treatment if I wear hair extensions?
Hair extensions introduce additional considerations, because your natural hair, the extension hair and the attachment or foundation may not all respond to products and heat in the same way.
Tell iHobbs that you wear extensions before booking or undergoing a keratin treatment so that your individual installation can be considered.
When further assessment is appropriate.
If the hair is significantly compromised, breaking, undergoing unexplained change, or if you are concerned about your scalp or hair loss, a smoothing service should not simply conceal the concern. iHobbs may recommend further assessment or a different pathway.
Concerned about thinning or unexplained shedding?
The specialist Hair Loss pathway may be more appropriate than a smoothing service.

Your Results
What can you realistically expect from a keratin treatment?
Keratin treatment results should be understood as an improvement in manageability and finish rather than a promise that every client’s hair will look or behave identically. Your starting texture, condition, previous chemical services, home care and everyday routine can all influence your experience.
Important: Your result should be judged against your own starting hair, not somebody else’s before and after photograph.

Genuine iHobbs client — before and after a professional keratin treatment.
Immediately after your appointment.
You will leave with the professionally finished result created during your appointment. It is worth distinguishing that salon finish from how your hair will look once you are washing and styling it yourself at home.
The aftercare guidance below explains how to manage your hair between appointments.
Will my hair be completely straight?
Not necessarily. A keratin treatment should not be understood as permanent straightening. The finished result depends on your starting hair and the outcome being created.
If you would like to retain movement and texture, or if a straighter finish is your objective, discuss it before your treatment.
How long do results last?
Results typically last around 8 to 12 weeks. Individual longevity varies according to your hair, lifestyle, washing routine and home care, and your aftercare can influence how the treatment performs.
Will my hair return to normal?
The smoothing effect reduces over time rather than being a permanent change to all future growth. Your natural hair continues to grow, and the appearance and behaviour of your hair evolves as the treatment wears.
Will everyone get the same result?
No. Texture, density, condition, previous services and the finish you want all matter. The most useful focus is your own likely result, not somebody else’s.

A good keratin treatment should come with realistic expectations as well as beautiful hair.
After Your Treatment
The appointment creates the result. Your aftercare helps maintain it.
What happens after your keratin treatment matters. Washing, product choice, colour services and everyday styling can all influence how your hair looks and behaves.
The aftercare guidance provided by iHobbs for the treatment you actually received takes priority over generic online advice written for other systems.
Important: Not all keratin treatments use the same protocol. Follow the instructions for the treatment you actually received.
When can I wash my hair?
The Keratin Revolution treatment used at iHobbs does not require you to wait several days before washing. You can wash your hair the same day or the following day.
Until your first wash, keep your hair down and loose and avoid unnecessary kinks or creases.
What should I avoid before the first wash?
Keep the hair down and loose, and avoid hair ties, clips, grips and unnecessarily tucking the hair behind your ears where this may crease it. Once you have washed your hair for the first time, this immediate restriction ends.
Colour and keratin should be planned together.
Tell iHobbs if you colour or bleach your hair. Colouring after a Keratin Revolution treatment should normally be delayed by at least 7 days, with 10 to 14 days preferred where possible.
Colour, bleach and keratin services should be appropriately spaced rather than automatically combined into one appointment.
Your product choice forms part of maintenance.
Follow the home care recommendations provided specifically for your keratin treatment. Guidance written for other services or other hair types is not automatically appropriate here, and the treatment specific guidance takes precedence.
Heat styling still requires care.
The treatment may make styling easier, but your hair is not immune to heat. Use styling tools appropriately and follow the guidance provided for your hair.
Swimming.
You can swim. Frequent exposure to chlorinated water may affect the condition of your hair and reduce how long your result lasts. Rinse your hair thoroughly with clean water after swimming and continue to follow your aftercare guidance.
Exercise.
You can exercise after a Keratin Revolution treatment. There is no general post-treatment restriction on exercising or perspiring. If you wash your hair afterwards, follow the first wash and aftercare guidance above.
Good aftercare should make your treatment easier to maintain, not leave you trying to reconcile conflicting instructions from the internet.
Your Appointment
From booking to beautifully manageable hair
A professional keratin service is more than the application itself. Your starting hair, previous services, desired result and aftercare all form part of the appointment journey.
How long will my appointment take?
Appointment requirements can vary according to the individual hair. Your booking information will provide the relevant appointment details.
01
Before Your Appointment
We understand your hair and what you want to achieve.
Relevant information about your hair, any previous colour or chemical services and the result you would like are all considered. Please tell us about anything significant relating to your hair or scalp.
02
Your Treatment
Your service is carried out professionally for your individual hair.
Your keratin treatment is performed using the professional system selected by iHobbs, adapted appropriately to your hair and the intended result. The technical application remains a professional service rather than something to attempt at home.
03
Your Finished Result
We review the result together.
You will see and discuss the finished result and understand what to expect at home. A professionally styled salon finish is not a guarantee that every future wash will reproduce the same appearance without any styling of your own.
04
Your Home Care
You leave knowing what happens next.
You receive appropriate guidance for washing, products, styling and any other services you are planning, including the timing and restrictions specific to the professional system used.
Note: You do not need to understand how to perform a keratin treatment. You need to understand what you are choosing, what you can reasonably expect and how to care for the result.
A well managed treatment journey begins with realistic expectations and ends with clear aftercare.

Ready for Easier Hair?
Spend less time fighting your hair and more time enjoying it.
If frizz and everyday manageability are making your hair harder to live with than it needs to be, a professional keratin treatment may be worth considering. We will focus on your hair, the result you want and what can realistically be achieved rather than promising the same outcome for everyone.
